Winter in Paris, avec les kids

Ma petite fille à Paris, chez a Mariage Frères tearoom

Going to Paris and enjoying Paris was much more simple before I had children. The first time I took my child to a museum and she was out of a baby carrier, I realized I wasn’t going to be able to look up at the intriguing artworks, but instead I’d have to mainly watch her darting in and out of the legs of my fellow museum lovers, trying to ensure that nobody was going to splat on the granite flooring. Slow, edifying art appreciation was not going to be my speed for a while I quickly realized.

Paris with children in wintertime is challenging (especially for us Californians) because it’s usually very chilly, rainy, sometimes slippery, and even more rarely, snowy. My big goal once we’ve landed is to get the kiddos walking outside so they can feel whatever amount of sun there is on their skin, and to get their energy expended so we can tackle the time change and the physical disruptions from the long flight.

So where are the best places to go in Paris with children?

  1. The Jardin d’Acclamitation

The Jardin d’Acclamitation in Paris is a parent’s dream come true! From the cute little train you can take to the entrance, to the tastefully done carousels and rides, to finally the flora and fauna, you, and your child will have a sweet time. There is a wooden obstacle course in the center of the park near the aviary where they can jump, climb and slide. There is another expansive park space by the equestrian center where they can play in the sand, all with the modern Louis Vuitton museum in the backdrop.

I have so much more to share, so I’ll just consider this Part Un. Even with just this one fantastic location, you are on your way to enjoying l’hiver à Paris with your children! Bisous,
